Her Story

About Carol

Carol Cruz is the Founder of CLC Creative Ventures, where she brings together nearly two decades of experience in behavioral health, recovery, crisis intervention, leadership, and community advocacy with emerging artificial intelligence technologies. Her work focuses on developing human-centered AI solutions, including integrated agents and bots designed to improve workflows, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and help professionals navigate complex challenges with greater clarity and efficiency. Carol’s approach is grounded in the belief that technology should enhance, rather than replace, human connection, empathy, and emotional intelligence.

A respected advocate and professional in the recovery and behavioral health space, Carol has dedicated much of her career to supporting individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health challenges. She currently works as a Crisis Call Specialist, providing crisis intervention, de-escalation, and connections to local and statewide resources related to homelessness, suicidal ideation, addiction treatment, and detoxification. A person in long-term recovery with 32 years of sobriety, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her advocacy. Carol previously served as Executive Director of the R.E.A.C.H. OUT Project, supporting youth and families through education, wellness resources, peer support, and recovery services. She has also led education and training initiatives for peer support specialists, including programs serving veterans and emergency room populations.

In addition to her entrepreneurial work, Carol is a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist, trainer, facilitator, coach, and public speaker who remains committed to reducing stigma surrounding addiction and mental health. She is involved with recovery advocacy organizations, provides training for peer support professionals, and continues to develop initiatives that promote resilience, empowerment, and community connection. Carol is also the host of Cruzin’ on the Edge, a podcast exploring recovery, resilience, culture, purpose, and personal transformation. She holds a B.S. in Human Services from the University of Bridgeport and certifications in peer recovery support and embodied social justice. Through CLC Creative Ventures, Carol is building the next chapter of her career at the intersection of AI, human-centered innovation, leadership, recovery, and social impact.
