About Carol
Carol Grzych serves as a Data Manager at the leading producer responsibility organization in the United States, where she supports extended producer responsibility laws in states including Colorado, California, and Oregon. With a background as a chemical engineer and a graduate degree in environmental policy from the University of Illinois, she works at the intersection of state governments, large producers, and recycling infrastructure to manage sustainability data. A Fulbright Fellow, Carol is active in the Women and Climate group in New York City and acts as a technical advisor to the reusability startup RetroCycle in Denver. She also mentors current Fulbright applicants through the University of Illinois Fulbright office. Carol approaches her work by translating complex data into accessible terms for diverse audiences while emphasizing informed decision-making and patience in achieving ambitious policy goals.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I try to live by the mantra: would you rather be correct or happy? There's not always a correct answer, and we need to leave space for different conclusions. Also, not everything needs to happen at once; things take time and happen in their natural progression, especially big ambitious goals in policy.
