Her Interview
Ten minutes with Carol
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my parents, who have been extremely supportive of my career and personal growth through the years. They have seen me through my darkest days when I first began my career and were always by my side to uplift and empower me. I also attribute my success to prioritizing self-care on a daily basis and I have created self-care systems to give me a sense of work-life balance. Taking care of my daily physical and mental well-being has given me a strong foundation to channel my energy into each work day and ultimately win at my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I think the best career advice I've ever received was Jump and you will fly. You have to jump and take that leap and then as long as you love what you're doing and you believe in it, the universe will have your back.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Give yourself a chance and believe in yourself. Take that first leap because if you don't give yourself that opportunity, you'll never know. You don't want to be picking yourself when you're much older on your deathbed wondering what if.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Navigating a male-dominated industry to find my voice has been challenging, though it's becoming more equal now. Technology advances very fast so I have to keep up and always be open to learning.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Treating others with kindness, respect and compassion. Being of service and giving back. There is no expiration date in terms of reinventing oneself and personal growth - it's never too late to pursue something new or learn something new.
