Her Story
About Caroline
I've been in my field since August 2021, starting in sales for four years where I focused on ESG (environmental social governance) from the technology provider side. In August 2024, I moved into my current internal role at IBM where I help focus on disclosing information about IBM's environmental and social programs, policies, and due diligence. My work centers on supporting our clients in their own due diligence practices to ensure that IBM remains a responsible and ethical business with strong human rights practices, due diligence within our supply chain, and decarbonization programs that help minimize our impact on the planet. I respond to questionnaires we receive from clients and partners, and I help support bid processes when we receive requests for proposals that have information regarding our ethical practices - really helping support clients in their own due diligence by providing corporate transparency. I also help put together IBM's impact disclosure, which is our annual public disclosure of all of our responsible business practices. Beyond that, I help implement efficiency and automation in our processes, and I volunteer with our Impact Accelerator program that provides technology to communities dealing with environmental and economic stress. My passion for sustainability developed during my undergraduate studies at Ohio State University, where I was an information systems major with a Fashion and Retail Studies minor. It was through my minor that I learned about the impacts the fashion industry has on the planet, and I really understood that corporations are at the heart of climate change, and we have to go to the heart of the problem in order to solve and create solutions.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say probably just the ability to advocate for myself throughout my professional career to ensure that the work that I'm doing aligns with my core values. And helping to push corporate transparency through our disclosures, which I would say is the most proud aspect of my career thus far.
