About Caroline
Caroline Curran is an underwriter in energy banking, specializing in upstream oil and gas finance in Houston, Texas. She built her foundation in finance at Texas A&M University, where she completed a bachelor's degree in economics before going on to earn her master's degree in finance from the Mays Business School. Over the past four years, she has grown her career through a rotational program that exposed her to multiple facets of the banking world, including commercial real estate, corporate, and commercial banking, before she found her footing in energy finance.
In her current role, which she has held for three years, Caroline compiles data, builds financial models, evaluates forecasts, and prepares detailed reports on companies and market conditions for review by credit committees. Her work requires precision and adaptability, particularly as the energy finance sector moves through periods of transition that can slow deal activity industry-wide. She credits much of her professional growth to her resilience, perseverance, openness to feedback, and continual pursuit of improvement, qualities that have shaped her steady rise within the field.
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Caroline is guided by a personal commitment to integrity, kindness, and accountability, principles she carries into both her work and everyday life. She is an active supporter of Dress for Success and the Small Steps Nurturing Center, reflecting her dedication to giving back to her community. An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Caroline enjoys skiing, fishing, hiking, golfing, and reading in her free time, and she counts earning her master's degree and advancing steadily in her career among her proudest achievements.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, perseverance, a willingness to take feedback, and a constant drive to improve.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I'd rather take the initiative and get eight out of ten things done than wait around for direction on how to do something.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be who you are, and carve out what you want for yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge I see is navigating periods when the energy finance market is in transition and activity slows down.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Sticking to my word, kindness, authenticity, and owning up to my mistakes are the values I hold most important, both professionally and personally.
