Her Interview

Ten minutes with Caroline

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my personal journey, perseverance, faith, and the support of my family. After raising my children, I made the decision to return to school and pursue my education in a different country, stepping outside of my comfort zone to create new opportunities for myself and my family. My children and husband have been a tremendous source of motivation and encouragement, inspiring me to continue growing personally and professionally. Going from being a stay-at-home mom to earning my bachelor’s degree and completing my master’s degree in healthcare administration is one of my proudest accomplishments. My involvement with the Nigerian community in Houston since 2016, including serving as secretary, has also strengthened my leadership skills and commitment to service. Ultimately, I believe my success comes from refusing to give up on my dreams and showing others that it is never too late to pursue your goals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to serve others, stay involved in my community, and use my position to make a positive difference. My involvement with the Akwa Ibom Houston Association, where I served as a secretary, VP and a board member from 2016 until taking a break in early 2025, has reinforced the importance of leadership through service. Through the organization, I participated in volunteer initiatives, including food pantry activities, and I have also supported annual downtown outreach events through my church, New Glory Land Church in Houston. Receiving a humanitarian award from the association was especially meaningful and reminded me that true success is not only about professional accomplishments, but also about the lives we positively impact along the way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the healthcare industry is simple: you can do it! Never be afraid to dream big or pursue the goals that are meaningful to you. Anything you dream is possible when you believe in yourself, remain committed, and are willing to work for it. Stay focused, continue learning, embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, and never allow setbacks to convince you that your dreams are out of reach.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity for me right now is embracing the next chapter of my professional journey and preparing for my next celebration after graduation. Completing my master’s degree is an important milestone, and I am excited to build on my education and experience by pursuing greater leadership opportunities in healthcare administration. I look forward to continuing to grow, taking on new challenges, and using my knowledge and experience to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare field.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are perseverance, faith, resilience, and the desire to inspire others. I believe in sharing my story to encourage and motivate other young women to pursue their goals, regardless of where their journey begins. I graduated from high school in Nigeria, dedicated myself to raising my children, and later returned to school to earn my bachelor’s and master’s degrees here in the United States. My journey has taught me that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, and I hope my experiences encourage other women to believe in themselves, embrace their potential, and continue moving forward despite challenges.
