About Caroline

Caroline Riley serves as Associate Director of Communications at the Federation of American Hospitals, part of a two-person team handling communications for the association that represents taxpaying hospitals and their priorities in Washington, D.C. In her role, she focuses on reporter engagement, social media management, digital presence building, public affairs strategy development, Capitol Hill outreach, and executive positioning to ensure consistent messaging. Riley graduated in 2023 from the University of Ohio with degrees in Strategic Communication and International Studies, having studied abroad in Barcelona for six months. Her professional journey includes work across nonprofit, association, and government sectors, with previous positions at Politico and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, as well as early experience in sales, media relations, marketing, corporate social responsibility, and human resources. She is mission-driven, advocating for healthcare affordability and supporting patients, providers, and hospitals. Riley completed an internship at the Capital Area Food Bank and remains involved in local hunger relief efforts in Washington, D.C., while maintaining interest in environmental protection, refugee assistance, and international aid. She values strong women leaders in her workplaces and mentors students through her university's internship program in D.C. Riley advises young women entering the field to trust that their path is not linear, remain curious, explore opportunities, stay hungry for knowledge, keep educating themselves, work hard, be patient, and maintain a ferocious sense of curiosity.
