About Carolyn

My name is Carolyn Alexander and I am a store manger at 5 Below. Even though I've only being with the company for 9 months and counting I have been in management since 2015. Once a shy girl has known grown into a woman with experience to to compete with the best. I take pride in managing a successful business and helping every employee I come in contact with be the best they can be. I currently have a associates degree in Business Management and plan to further my career obtaining my bachelors. I'm always looking forward to learning and perfecting my career.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to building a strong team relationship so we can be deeply results-driven and proactive. I will continue to attribute my success to understanding team dynamics, anticipating needs, and managing relationships effectively. I want to build a transparent communicative culture that grants trust and allows team members to excel. Being in a fast-pace enviroment we will be dedicated to achieving goals despite challenges.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I ever received was to not let any negativity or bad situations stop me from seeing the bigger picture. Always strive to be the best you can be and nothing less. The sky is the limit.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell the young women who would like to pursure being in management, is that it is nothing like having your own store. Will it be easy? No! Would it be awarding? Yes! Do not get discourage continue to learn and grow from every situation you are faced with. It can be a good/bad interaction with a customer or simply not reaching a sales goal. Learn from every aspect of the business.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges right now for the field I am in, is competing with some of the best managers in my district. They set the bar high and being new in the company I often feel I am playing catch up. The opportunites I have is to grown and learn with an amazing company.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The key values that are most important to me in my personal life would be continous growth, and taking accountability of actions and decisions. I will make sure to be understanding and care for others' well-being. The key values that are most important to me in my work life to continute being consistent and trusted in responsibilities by fostering a supportive, fair environment for everyone.
