Confidence grew by stepping outside my comfort zone and moving forward despite uncertainty. It's not about having all the answers, but trusting myself to take the next step.

Ten minutes with Carolyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to longevity, consistency, and a genuine commitment to this industry. People often assume this business is easy, but it requires resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to keep moving forward through changing markets and challenging circumstances. Staying power matters. I have remained committed to my profession, continued to grow, and refused to give up when things became difficult.
Even after many years in the industry, I am still learning something new every day. Title, escrow, and real estate are constantly changing as new laws, regulations, technology, and market conditions emerge. I believe continued learning is essential to serving clients well, staying relevant, and becoming a stronger professional and leader.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I have ever received is to stay true to who I am, keep showing up, and never stop learning. Success does not always happen quickly, but consistency, integrity, and a willingness to grow will carry you through challenges and create opportunities over time.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to stay consistent because consistency is everything in this business. Show up every time, follow through on your commitments, communicate clearly, and be a true team player. Success is not built through one major accomplishment. It is built through the small actions you repeat every day and the way you support the people around you.
Being dependable and present for your colleagues and clients builds trust, strengthens relationships, and creates long term success. People remember who was available, who kept their word, and who remained committed when challenges arose. When you lead with consistency, integrity, and a willingness to help others, you become someone people know they can count on.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now center on the economy. Interest rates, affordability, inventory levels, and overall market confidence create constant shifts in activity, much like the cycles we experienced during the Great Recession and the savings and loan crisis. Because the title, escrow, mortgage, and real estate industries are closely tied to broader economic conditions, many factors affecting our business are outside of our direct control.
The real challenge is learning how to respond. When the market slows, you have to work harder, stay visible, strengthen relationships, and find new ways to provide value. You cannot rely on the market to create opportunities for you. You have to remain disciplined, stay connected to your clients, and continue showing up even when results take longer to achieve. When the market is booming, many people enter the industry believing success will come easily, but they often underestimate the consistency, knowledge, and effort required to build a lasting career.
I also believe these challenges create meaningful opportunities for growth. Difficult markets force professionals to reassess their approach, improve their skills, develop new strategies, and invest in their own professional development. They reveal who is willing to adapt, who understands the importance of relationships, and who is committed to the industry for the long term. Learning how to adjust without losing sight of your values is where the greatest opportunity lies. Every market cycle provides a chance to become more resourceful, knowledgeable, and prepared for the next stage of growth.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, authenticity, and communication are the values that matter most to me, both professionally and personally. Integrity means doing what is right, keeping my word, and taking responsibility for my actions, even when no one is watching. Authenticity allows me to build genuine relationships by being honest, approachable, and true to who I am. I believe people respond to sincerity, and strong relationships are built when others know they can trust both your intentions and your actions.
Clear communication is what brings everything together. It creates understanding, prevents unnecessary confusion, and helps people feel heard and respected. Whether I am working with clients, colleagues, or members of my community, I try to communicate openly, listen carefully, and follow through. These values guide how I lead, how I serve others, and how I approach every relationship. They have helped me earn trust, strengthen connections, and remain grounded throughout my career and personal life.
