Her Story
About Dr. Carolyn
Carolyn Horne-Robins is a visionary nonprofit leader, faith-based entrepreneur, published author, and devoted servant of God whose life's work is rooted in empowering women through faith, purpose, and compassionate service. Holding a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies and an Honorary Doctorate in Humanitarian Leadership, she serves as an Elder and Youth Pastor at The Olivet Church in Fayetteville, Georgia, where she pours into the next generation with the same passion that fuels every endeavor she leads. Her journey into nonprofit work was deeply personal — born from witnessing her mother's courageous fight against cancer and the financial hardships her family endured simply to afford transportation to treatments. That experience of love, loss, and resilience became the spark that would ignite a movement.
What began as a heartfelt tribute to her mother grew into the Strength of a Woman BeHER Awards, an annual celebration recognizing women who make extraordinary yet often unnoticed contributions to their families, communities, businesses, and ministries. Alongside the awards, Dr. Horne-Robins established The BeHER Foundation, a nonprofit committed to offering emotional, spiritual, and financial support to women navigating a cancer diagnosis. Under her leadership, the organization has grown steadily — expanding its annual giving year over year and growing event attendance from 150 to over 200 guests — all without corporate sponsorship, sustained entirely by community generosity and her unwavering dedication to the mission.
Beyond her nonprofit work, Dr. Horne-Robins is a multifaceted entrepreneur and the founder of Sacred Sips, a luxury coffee brand created to inspire meaningful moments of reflection, connection, and faith-centered community. A published author of several inspirational titles focused on healing and personal growth, she brings the same spirit of excellence and humility to every platform she occupies. Guided by the values of faith, compassion, empathy, and integrity, Dr. Horne-Robins approaches all she does with a servant's heart — committed to leaving every person she encounters stronger, more hopeful, and more fully equipped to walk in their God-given purpose.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Dr. Carolyn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to unwavering faith, a lifelong heart for service, and the enduring legacy of my mother. Growing up as a preacher's kid instilled in me a deep commitment to serving others, and my mother's courage during her battle with cancer ignited the passion that drives everything I do today. Much of what I have built has been self-taught, born out of creativity and persistence. Above all, I believe that keeping God at the center of every decision has given me the strength, wisdom, and purpose to transform personal loss into a ministry that brings hope and healing to countless women.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from my mother, who consistently reminded me to keep God first in everything I do — rooted in the principle found in Matthew 6:33, to seek God first and trust that everything else will follow. That simple yet profoundly powerful truth became the foundation of my leadership and the anchor that has carried me through every challenge. When faith leads the way, success is no longer solely about personal achievement — it becomes about serving others and leaving a lasting impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My greatest advice to young women entering nonprofit leadership is to know your why. Clarity of purpose is what sustains you when setbacks arise and distractions attempt to pull you off course. Nonprofit leadership offers tremendous opportunities to become a catalyst for meaningful change — to address unmet community needs and inspire future generations through service. The work is not without its challenges, including limited funding, growing organizational demands, and the weight of emotional responsibility. However, I firmly believe that purpose-driven leadership, grounded in faith and fueled by perseverance, empowers women to overcome those obstacles and build lasting legacies that extend far beyond themselves.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges in nonprofit leadership is connecting with the right, mission-aligned people and building a team you can genuinely trust. There are times when offers of help come with hidden motives, and discerning those situations requires wisdom and vigilance. Securing sustainable resources while meeting the ever-growing needs of the communities we serve is equally demanding. At the same time, I see extraordinary opportunities — particularly in scaling financial impact. The BeHER Foundation has increased its giving year over year, with plans to grow grant amounts and expand our awards and publications to raise greater awareness and support. I see every challenge as an invitation to serve more boldly, trusting that purpose-driven leadership can change lives for generations to come.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My life and work are guided by faith, service, compassion, empathy, kindness, and integrity. I believe in putting God first while intentionally creating opportunities for others to heal, grow, and discover their own voices. Whether I am ministering to youth, supporting women battling cancer, writing to inspire, or building community through entrepreneurship, I approach every role with humility and a wholehearted commitment to serving others. My deepest desire is to leave every person I encounter stronger, more hopeful, and more empowered than I found them — and to honor the many women whose extraordinary contributions so often go unseen.
