Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to hands-on, boots-to-the-ground learning. I’ve lived a hard life where material things and basic necessities never came easy. Early on, I learned that hard work, showing up, and persevering are the true keys to success. I also made a vow to never let a child struggle educationally, emotionally, or go hungry if I can help it. I am proud to say that I am my own successor.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Figuring out the reasons behind a “no” and turning them into a “yes” has been a guiding principle for me. A coworker once shared that if something stands in the way of your success and it’s within your power, remove that obstacle. I’ve carried that advice with me, always reminding myself to never stop at just one person’s “no.”

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The best advice I can give is to be willing to adapt to change. After all, insurance is an industry that’s always changing. Be ready to raise your voice, speak up, and help drive the changes forward!

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the LTC industry is educating consumers on what long-term care really is and making it clear that Medicare does not pay for LTC. Misconceptions about long-term care insurance remain one of the greatest barriers we face.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me both professionally and personally are compassion, responsibility, and advocacy. Caring for my elderly mom gave me a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face with long-term care, and it fuels my commitment to making a real difference. I approach every responsibility with empathy, carry forward lessons from the past, and use my voice to push for greater support and awareness. At the heart of it all, I value meaningful connections, shared memories, and the constant drive to do more for those who depend on us.
