About Caron
Caron Merrow is a retired artminder and artist residing in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She volunteered as an artminder for 12 years from 2002 to 2014, serving as a co-founder of the group with 12 members and organizing art shows, receptions, and artist talks in the clubhouse of her residence community as part of volunteer efforts overseen by the Community Relations Committee. Merrow earned her BFA from Western Michigan University, focusing on painting, collage, and 3D art, and she pursued further studies through senior classes in the middle 2000s onward while developing her own motif of a figure resembling a T-shirt with a backwards hood that carries people. She comes from an artistic family and continues creating works including printmaking and digital prints from original sources. Merrow received valuable career resources from her older sister Ellen, including twice-weekly letters from Canadian painter Robert Genn published in The Painter's Keys, which provided advice and references to great painters.
