Honesty, trust, persistence, and investing in people are central to her approach to work and leadership. She values the mentors and colleagues who supported her development and seeks to extend that same encouragement to others by giving people opportunities to take on challenges and discover their capabilities. Whether cultivating client relationships, supporting teams, or pursuing new opportunities, Carrie brings transparency, curiosity, and a relationship-driven mindset to her work.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Carrie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support of colleagues and mentors who believed in my potential, my willingness to take risks and embrace unfamiliar challenges, and my persistence through uncertainty. I believe in the philosophy of moving forward even when the path isn’t clear.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received is, “Do it scared.” I’ve learned that meaningful growth often comes from taking on challenges before I feel completely ready, trusting my ability to learn, and recognizing that confidence often comes after taking the first step.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn the business, ask questions, and listen to the people doing the work. In facilities management and business development, trust is everything. Be reliable, stay curious, and never underestimate the value of genuine relationships. Confidence often comes after you take the first step. Bet on yourself, embrace unfamiliar challenges, and trust your ability to learn and grow along the way.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in facilities management is finding qualified vendors and skilled tradespeople. While interest in the trades declined for a period, I’m encouraged to see more young people returning to these careers. AI can support the industry, but hands-on technical expertise remains essential for work in the trades
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, trust, and investing in people are at the heart of my professional and personal values. I believe in being honest, persistent, transparent, and doing things the right way. I also value forgiveness, mentorship, and supportive leadership, recognizing how much my own growth has been shaped by people who trusted my potential and encouraged me to develop.
