Ten minutes with Carrie
01What do you attribute your success to?
Surviving 27 years in the industry while still enjoying the work and having the reputation among peers as someone they can call for advice. Being open-minded and seeing things through the buyer's eyes has been key to handling the stress of building homes.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Having an open mind and needing to see what we do through the buyer's eyes because what is normal to us is stressful for them as they are making the most expensive purchase of their lives.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always ask questions, be willing to put in the hard work, have thick skin, be open-minded, and understand there will be tough days but everyone works together to get through them. The industry is now more open to women than when I started.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Being open, honest, and forward-speaking while remaining approachable and available so that people feel safe coming to me with questions or issues, both at work and with family.
