Dr. Carrie Page is a highly experienced and dedicated educational leader with over 25 years of expertise in special education. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at a Special School District K–8 school, where she supports students with a wide range of needs, including medically fragile, social-emotional, autistic, and nonverbal learners. In this role, Dr. Page focuses on building comprehensive systems that ensure equitable access to special education and inclusive learning opportunities. She is committed to creating sensory-friendly, restorative, and supportive environments that foster both academic growth and social-emotional well-being, while guiding and mentoring staff to implement evidence-based practices with fidelity.

Dr. Page’s professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that high expectations and joy are not mutually exclusive. She strives to cultivate a school culture where rigor is balanced with relationship-building, transparency, and collaboration. Equity and family engagement are central to her approach, ensuring that families are active partners in their children’s education. She is recognized for her ability to design and implement systems that empower educators to meet the diverse needs of students, promote inclusivity, and enhance overall school climate.

Beginning her career in special education in 1998, Dr. Page has served in roles spanning classroom teaching, school counseling, and school psychology, developing proactive interventions and individualized support for students. She later advanced into administrative leadership, serving as a special education administrator in partner districts of the Special School District of St. Louis County, and now leads as an assistant principal with a focus on systems-building, professional development, and restorative practices. She holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Maryville University of Saint Louis and is a Dare to Lead™ Trained Leader, integrating courage, empathy, and collaboration into her leadership practice. Her exemplary work has earned her multiple district-level nominations for leadership awards, reflecting her significant and positive impact on students, families, and colleagues.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be a lifelong learner, ask questions, keep students at the center of your work, and recognize the dual responsibility of supporting both students and the adults who teach them. Be prepared to navigate systems and politics while holding to principles of equity and transparency.
