About Carrie
I started teaching in 2010 at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Before that, I was a graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi, where I also taught online for Troy University and Auburn University. After completing my PhD, I became an assistant professor at Columbus State University, and then in August 2021, I started at Augusta University as an assistant professor in Communication. I recently received tenure and promotion, and now I'm an associate professor at Augusta University. My typical day involves teaching classes, meeting one-on-one with students, responding to a lot of emails, lesson planning, and grading. I also work on my research because I have an active research agenda, and I try to set time aside during my day to work on that to make sure I'm staying relevant and current in research. I'm very passionate about working with students on professionalism and networking, especially the females in my class. I talk to them about personal branding and the importance of being recognized for their work. In the summer, I also volunteer at the cancer center teaching students about public speaking and translating science.
