She credits her professional success to being good with people, treating everyone with respect as potential clients without judgment. Lee values loyalty, honesty, hard work, and trustworthiness in both her professional and personal life. She advises aspiring professionals in her industry to recognize that while licensing classes teach regulatory compliance, interpersonal skills are essential and may not be easily learned if not already present.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Carry

01What do you attribute your success to?

It's the people thing. Being good with people, not judging anyone, treating everyone with respect as potential clients. This skill honed from being a military spouse for over 20 years, moving a lot and meeting many different people.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

A friend told me once I get my license, to never ever let it go no matter what's going on in my life. Also treat everybody the way that you want to be treated.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know that the class you're taking is going to teach you how to stay out of jail. It's not gonna teach you how to deal with people. If dealing with people is not something you're already good at, sometimes it's not something you can learn.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges right now is meeting being in the right place at the right time, and being a small town where most of the people know each other so it's kind of hard to find your footing, but sometimes it works.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Loyalty, honesty, work hard, be trustworthy. The core values. Loyal, honest, just be loyal, be honest. Work hard. Be trustworthy. Scratch yours, I scratch yours type thing.
