Her Story

About Casey

Casey Paepke is the Supervisor of the Business Retention Team at AirMedCare Network, a division of Global Medical Response, where she leads the team responsible for business retention strategy, corporate membership performance, and the management of a multimillion-dollar budget. She is passionate about developing people, improving processes, and creating an environment where her team can succeed through collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Her career path has been defined by resilience and perseverance. After her divorce, Casey rebuilt her life by beginning a career as a 911 dispatcher in a major metropolitan area in California, where she spent six years serving fire, law enforcement, and emergency medical agencies. During that time, she earned her Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) certifications while developing the ability to remain calm, think critically, and make sound decisions under extraordinary pressure. One of the defining moments of her dispatch career came during a major California wildfire, when a critical decision she made helped ensure that no lives were lost.

When carpal tunnel syndrome made it impossible to continue in dispatch, Casey faced another crossroads. Rather than allowing the setback to define her, she relocated across the country and started over professionally as a temporary business processor through a staffing agency. What began as a fresh start quickly became a new career. Through hard work, accountability, and a commitment to continuous learning, she earned a full-time position within a year and advanced into leadership. Today, she leads the Business Retention Team, oversees business retention strategy, and manages a multimillion-dollar budget while helping identify operational gaps, improve processes, and support her team’s long-term success.

Earlier in her career, Casey also gained valuable administrative and legal experience while working as an office assistant in the litigation department of a California correctional facility. Those experiences, combined with her emergency services background and corporate leadership journey, have shaped a leader who values decisiveness, adaptability, and servant leadership.

Casey is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting through Western Governors University while continuing to grow professionally. She believes leadership is built on accountability, compassion, integrity, and a commitment to helping others succeed. The mentors who invested in her throughout her career helped shape the leader she is today, and she is passionate about paying that investment forward by mentoring and developing members of her own team.

Outside of work, Casey enjoys life on her family’s small farm, where she raises chickens and other animals, tackles creative DIY projects, crochets, and is almost always in the middle of a good fantasy novel. Whether she is leading a team, renovating a space, or building something with her own hands, she approaches every challenge with curiosity, resilience, and the determination to leave things better than she found them.

From answering 911 calls to leading a multimillion-dollar business operation, Casey’s career is a testament to resilience, lifelong learning, and the belief that great leaders are built through service, perseverance, and a commitment to helping others succeed.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Casey

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, the mentors who guided me along the way, and my ability to make decisive choices under pressure. My years as a dispatcher taught me how to stay calm and act decisively when it matters most.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received came from two leaders who shaped the way I approach challenges. During a high pressure crisis, a supervisor told me to make a decision, trust my judgment, and stand by it. That advice taught me the importance of confidence and decisive leadership, even when every answer isn’t clear.

Later, a mentor in my current field reinforced another lesson that has stayed with me: it’s okay to make mistakes. Mistakes are opportunities to learn, grow, and become better, as long as I take ownership of them, apply what I’ve learned, and keep moving forward. Together, these lessons have helped me become a more confident, resilient, and adaptable leader.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this field to stand by their decisions and have the confidence to see them through. Learn from the people who came before you so you can avoid repeating their mistakes, hold onto a bit of resolve when the decisions get difficult, and don’t be afraid of confrontation.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Hard work, accountability, and continual learning are values I hold close in both my career and personal life. I also place great importance on compassion, integrity, and building genuine relationships with the people around me. I believe that treating others with respect, following through on my commitments, and always looking for ways to grow creates a positive impact both professionally and personally.

In my work, I strive to lead by example, take ownership of my responsibilities, and support those around me. I enjoy solving problems, helping others succeed, and finding opportunities to improve processes and outcomes. Outside of work, these same values guide how I care for my family, contribute to my community, and pursue my personal interests. Whether I’m leading a team, tackling a new challenge, or working on a creative project, I want to leave things better than I found them and continue growing into the best version of myself.
