Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cassidy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the influence and support of my parents, who each inspired different aspects of who I am today. My mother nurtured my creativity and artistic expression, while my father, with his background in newspaper publishing, inspired my passion for journalism and storytelling. I also credit my faith in Jesus for providing me with purpose, guidance, and the strength to pursue meaningful work that serves others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to be responsible, independent, and deeply appreciative of the people who invest in your growth. My parents taught me the importance of hard work, gratitude, and making the most of every opportunity. Their encouragement and guidance have shaped both my personal values and my professional journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to seek mentors who genuinely invest in their success and help them recognize their strengths. My professors in the Communication Studies Department, particularly those who taught rhetoric, gave me invaluable guidance on how to market myself professionally, navigate the transition from college to career, and confidently pursue opportunities aligned with my goals. Their mentorship reinforced the importance of believing in your abilities and remaining open to new experiences.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see tremendous opportunity to make a meaningful difference through journalism, nonprofit communications, social media, and storytelling. My goal is to positively impact people one person at a time by creating content that informs, inspires, and connects communities. Looking ahead, I aspire to combine my passion for writing and creativity by launching a fashion and lifestyle magazine that encourages and uplifts readers while continuing my work in journalism and nonprofit communications.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value building genuine relationships and connecting with people in meaningful ways. I believe every individual is shaped by the people they encounter, and that it's never a waste of time to help someone in need. I strive to use writing, creativity, and communication to foster understanding and make a positive impact. Personability, compassion, creativity, and a sincere desire to help others guide both my professional work and my personal life.
