Her Story
About Cate
I really struggled to find where I fit in in corporate, and I think a lot of people feel like they don't really know where they belong in their career or even in their life. There's that sense of, okay, am I doing this with purpose? Am I where I truly belong or need to be? For me, I really got into project management and almost like change management because I was sensing that people were lost and they needed guidance and help, and I always try to jump in and help wherever I can. That made me want to really pursue coaching even more because I think there's a lot of people who know where they want to be, but they don't always know how to get there. Sometimes having that cheerleader or even accountability partner is really important, and I know I need that for myself sometimes. Providing clarity and confidence in chaos is something that I really like to do and help with. I've been at companies where I'm the 100,000th employee, I've been at companies where I'm the 8th employee in a very startup environment, and being able to work and be adaptable in these different types of settings with different kinds of clients and different kinds of teams has been really helpful, because no two clients is the same. If someone comes to me, something that worked for client A might be vastly different than what works for client B or even for myself.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I really think it taught me not only what I liked and disliked for myself, but I think it also taught me how to work with all different kinds of people. I've been at companies where I'm the 100,000th employee, I've been at companies where I'm the 8th employee in a very startup environment, and being able to work and be adaptable in these different types of settings with different kinds of clients and different kinds of teams has been really helpful. No two clients is the same, and if someone comes to me, something that worked for client A might be vastly different than what works for client B or even for myself. I think having that has been a huge win for me. I think challenging status quo and the self-reflection and awareness it takes to realize, hey, I want to help people in corporate settings, but that setting may not personally be right for me, I think that's been a huge accomplishment.
