Her Story
About Catherine
I've been working in food and beverage for around 10 years, and I'm approaching my one-year anniversary in my current role next month. What drew me to this industry is that I just love talking to people. I really like helping places elevate and grow, helping team members reach their potential, and I felt like for a fast-paced environment and something to keep me busy, definitely food and beverage would be the route to go. Every day is different for me. Some days I'm in the fine dining restaurant, either behind the bar, running food, or helping with basically any service need that needs to be met. Other days, I help cover breaks behind the bar or run food at one of our other locations. I also help plan and organize events. On Mondays, I have an admin day where I do payroll, wine orders, and inventory orders. I'm over the inventory for around 14 outlets, where I enter those and run reports. I also do scheduling and day-to-day operations, managing over 80 people.

Ten minutes with Catherine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would probably attribute my success to my determination and work ethic. For a while, we were a little short-staffed on the administrative side, so managing daily operations for, again, 14 outlets and being over 80 people, was a little challenging, but it really helped me grow and realize what all I'm capable of.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It does not matter your age or sex. You can still be the top of your team, you can still lead them to great things. And don't stop speaking just because you don't feel heard.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
For a while, we were a little short-staffed on the administrative side, so managing daily operations for, again, 14 outlets and being over 80 people, was a little challenging, but it really helped me grow and realize what all I'm capable of.
