Her Story

About Catherine

Catherine Musson is a fashion professional and creative stylist who serves as a Stylist Advisor at Saks Fifth Avenue, a role she began in March 2026. In her position, she specializes in styling, clienteling, market research, and understanding customer preferences to deliver personalized luxury retail experiences while building lasting client relationships. She launched her professional fashion career in 2025 and has steadily expanded her expertise through retail, styling, and hands-on fashion industry experience. Before transitioning fully into fashion, Catherine earned certification in preschool education, demonstrating the versatility and strong interpersonal skills that continue to benefit her client-focused approach.

Catherine earned a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising and Retail from Johnson & Wales University, where she graduated as a Dean's List student. Alongside her studies, she balanced multiple roles, including teaching sewing as a seamstress instructor and working as a sales associate, further strengthening her technical and customer service abilities. She also gained valuable behind-the-scenes industry experience by volunteering with the production and styling teams for Fort Lauderdale Fashion Week and Paraiso Miami Swim Week. Looking ahead, Catherine hopes to combine her creativity and industry knowledge by eventually launching her own clothing line.

Outside of her professional life, Catherine enjoys expressing her creativity through designing and sewing her own garments, crocheting, and exploring new fashion ideas. She also maintains an active lifestyle through yoga, spending time with her dog, and cultivating a growing interest in reading alongside her fiancé. Committed to giving back to her community, she supports humanitarian relief efforts for Gaza and Ukraine, volunteers at homeless shelters, and serves with the young adults ministry at St. Anthony's Church. Guided by the values of authenticity, honesty, ambition, kindness, and perseverance, Catherine encourages aspiring professionals to embrace their individuality, pursue their passions with confidence, and remain resilient in the face of challenges.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Catherine

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the values my parents instilled in me—hard work, resilience, and perseverance. They taught me not to let setbacks or challenges discourage me and to keep moving forward, even when things are difficult. That mindset has shaped my work ethic and continues to guide me in both my career and personal life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to put myself out there and not be afraid to speak up. Growing up, I was naturally shy and quiet, but I've learned that opportunities often come from stepping outside your comfort zone. That's why I encourage others to be confident, use their voice, and go for it—you never know where it might lead.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to be yourself, stay passionate, and let your authenticity shine through. Creativity thrives when you embrace your unique perspective and confidently put yourself out there. Keep pursuing opportunities, believe in your abilities, and don't give up—your passion and perseverance will open doors.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the highly competitive nature of the industry. Everyone is striving to stand out, attract top clients, and achieve success, which can make it difficult to balance healthy competition with meaningful professional relationships. I believe it's important to remain collaborative, treat others with respect, and maintain positive relationships while continuing to deliver your best work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity, honesty, and kindness. I deeply appreciate people who are genuine and comfortable being themselves. I also believe that hard work, ambition, and treating others with respect are essential to building meaningful relationships and achieving lasting success.
