Her Story

About Cathlyn

Cathlyn Caceres is a healthcare professional with 18 years of experience spanning direct patient care and clinical relationship management. She began her career as a certified nursing assistant because she enjoyed working with older adults. After earning her vocational nursing certificate, she spent the next 16 to 17 years working as a hospice nurse. In the last two years, she transitioned into a sales role as a Clinical Liaison on the marketing team at her current job. In this position, she connects with physicians and other partners to facilitate smooth transitions to home care and home health services, provides education through events and in-services, and continues to serve as a visit nurse on the home health side. Cathlyn attributes her success to being a lifelong learner who seeks to understand the reasons behind her actions, the guidance of excellent mentors who helped her recognize her capabilities, and her openness to pivoting from hospice nursing into sales while continuing to apply her clinical skills.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cathlyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a lifelong learner who wants to understand why I'm doing what I'm doing, having excellent mentors who believed in me and showed me my capabilities, and being open to pivoting from hospice nursing into sales while still using my clinical skills.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received was to walk into situations confidently knowing that I have something valuable to offer, rather than apologizing or feeling like I'm asking for something. This changed my approach in sales and made me more successful.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell her to find a good mentor who is doing what you want to be doing, ask questions, be teachable, get tapped in with a supportive group of people who believe in you, work really hard, and believe in yourself because you can do it.
