About Cathryn
I started in working at major research Tier 1 universities in various research roles, administrative roles, teaching roles. Then I burned out and decided to work on the funder side as COO, CAO and Chief Scientific Administrative Officer for Stand Up to Cancer. The pandemic happened and I shifted to being more of an advisor. I started Growing Good over 6 years ago partnering with organizations whose products and services benefit the social good, doing advisory, fractional work, fundraising, strategy, strategic planning, operations, management consulting.

Ten minutes with Cathryn
01What do you attribute your success to?
I am very pragmatically optimistic. I always believe that better is possible. Having a really strong network and people who support me, whether mentors or peers or loved ones. Having something that you love more than anything you're afraid of, which forces you to move outside your comfort zone and push forward.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
In the nonprofit sector, it's not enough to just want to do good. You have to marry and align your mission and vision with the potential to fundraise and have a sustainable operation. Teams need to be strong on both the business side as well as the mission side and work together in coordination.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Major disruption in the philanthropic space due to AI and other factors. Organizations need to become more sustainable and able to continue to grow through disruption.
