About Catrina

Catrina Pearcy serves as Business Development Regional Manager at C1 Truck Driver Training School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She began her career in the truck industry in 2002 and has dedicated over two decades to the organization, advancing from recruiter to her current leadership role. Pearcy earned a Business Administration Associate's Degree from Harrison College, formerly known as Indiana Business College, in 2007. Her expertise encompasses leadership, community outreach, workforce development, and nonprofit partnerships, through which she connects organizations with training opportunities and identifies funding sources. She maintains active memberships in the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and the Indianapolis Motor Transit Authority. Beyond her professional duties, Pearcy volunteers with Volunteers of America, Fathers and Families, the Urban League, the Mary Rig Foundation, multiple Indianapolis community centers including Shepherd, South, Forest, Fourth Manor, and John Bonner Neighborhood Center, as well as a local women's center. She attributes her success to determination, hard work, and a competitive drive developed as one of seven siblings. Pearcy credits Lisa Willey, who hired her, with instilling confidence that enabled her to thrive in a male-dominated industry. Her core values center on kindness, treating others with respect, and maintaining a positive outlook, and she advises young women entering the field to give 110 percent, speak success into existence, and set actionable plans.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Catrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to determination and hard work. I'm one of seven kids and had to stand out. I've always been extremely competitive and very driven. If you tell me I can't do something, I will do it and be the best at it. If I can't do it, I'm going to figure out how to do it.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received came from Lisa Willey who hired me. She instilled confidence that even though I started at the bottom in a male-dominated industry, I could succeed as a strong woman. She gave me every opportunity and made me believe I could do it without doubting myself.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Put your all into it and give it 110% every day. Never let yourself think that you are not good enough. You have to have positive thoughts and speak it into existence. Set out a plan to get it and the mindset that it will work out because you're going to make it work out.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenge is that many people want to get into transportation but funding sources are an issue. The opportunity is finding grants people are eligible for that they may not know about, making resources available, and sharing knowledge so more people can get help and become productive members of society.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My values are just being a good person. Don't be a butthead. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Be kind because you never know what other people are going through. Have a positive outlook on life because it's a new day with new possibilities and new adventures.
