Ten minutes with Cecilia

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and having that fire in you to keep going. Make sure you don't get slowed down by challenges or objections. You just have to keep going.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is to be ready to walk away when there's no deal on the table. Too many people get fixated when they think there is, and when you find out there isn't, they keep on wasting time. There's no time for that.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to always be with people that know more than you, and smarter than you, because you learn more. It's harder, but it does yield much better results when you surround yourself with people that are experts in their field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Technology's always evolving, so make sure that you're always keeping up with the latest. Make sure that you're trying to understand where you fit in with the exchanges, focus on a couple things, don't try to focus on too many. Pick one or two things that you're good at, and develop those skills.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is number one, making sure that you spend time, quality time with the family. As far as work, maintain a work ethic, respect. Especially different perspectives. We don't all need it all. It takes a tribe to accomplish things, so make sure you have a team. And then you trust the people that you work with, and you give them the opportunity to express themselves.
