Her Story
About Cecilia
I do HTS Schedule B and ECCN classifications, release exports, and basically apply for licenses for any restricted countries. I work with technology, so restrictions to countries and companies are changing every day. Our field is really changing daily, between tariffs and restrictions. One of my biggest achievements is getting my licensed customs broker. When I took the test, only 13% of the people that apply for a test pass. I took the test for 3 times, I think I hit it and passed. I'm the kind of person that is always looking to grow, to learn. I don't settle with what I have, I need to learn more, I want to be challenged in everything, not only professionally.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think I'm the kind of person that is always looking to grow, to learn, so I don't settle with what I have. I need to learn more, I want to be challenged in everything, not only professionally. I like that in everything. I used to live in a little condo in my hospital, and then I moved up to a bigger condo in Coral Springs in another city. Then I said, well, you know what, I want to move to the beach, so I bought a condo on the beach. I started driving a Toyota Corolla, then I wanted a Camry. So I'm always looking for more.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
To be curious all the time. To try to be updated, that's really important in my field, especially right now, with everything that is going on in the world. Our field is really changing daily, between tariffs, restrictions. I work with technology, so restrictions to countries, to companies, it's changing every day.
