Currently, Cecille serves as an accountant at P&D LTD Accounting Firm in Minnesota, where she supports CPAs in preparing and reviewing financial documents, including balance sheets, trial balances, and profit and loss statements. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, discipline, and maintaining a positive mindset. Balancing full-time work with continuing my education has taught me the importance of focus and long-term goal setting. Adapting to new environments after immigrating to the United States challenged me to be resilient and flexible, and I’ve always been motivated by the desire to be a strong role model for my children.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has come from the CPAs and senior professionals I’ve had the privilege of working with throughout my career and education. Their guidance has helped me understand the value of professionalism, continuous learning, and approaching challenges with both confidence and curiosity.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering this industry to pursue their goals without fear of failure. Stay focused, work hard, and take opportunities even when they feel uncertain. I believe it’s always better to try and learn than to live with regret.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is balancing demanding workloads with continuing education, meeting CPA requirements, and keeping up with constantly evolving accounting regulations. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, including the growing demand for qualified accountants, career advancement through certification, expanding into financial consulting, and building long-term stability within corporate finance.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are perseverance, responsibility, integrity, family, continuous learning, and personal growth. I strive to approach every challenge with dedication and to uphold these principles in all aspects of my life.
Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities and have embraced adapting from life on the beaches of the Philippines to ice fishing and seasonal activities here in Minnesota. Spending time with my family and exploring new experiences are passions that bring balance and fulfillment to my life.
