Her Story

About Cecily

Cecily Coe entered the human resources arena in 2005 after taking a seasonal open enrollment specialist position at Hewitt while awaiting an opportunity in the juvenile justice system. She discovered a passion for helping others through benefits education and quickly advanced into roles involving training program leadership and strategic total rewards work. Today she focuses on the full rewards ecosystem, overseeing HRIS, payroll, health and welfare benefits, compensation, strategy, administration, and program design to attract and retain talent in fast-paced and transitioning companies. Coe holds SHRM certification and is pursuing her SEEDS credential as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist. She is also a member of SHRM and HR Houston. Her hands-on experience, combined with mentorship from industry leaders, has shaped her approach to building foundational benefits philosophies that support organizational growth.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Cecily

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from my family, especially my mom who has always been my biggest cheerleader and support system. My mom, aunts, and grandmother have been supportive, encouraging me and providing wisdom through all the ups and downs. My mom drives me even when I didn't think I wanted to do something, praying and being my biggest support.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Trust yourself and your instincts. Take the risk, it's okay to fall and go out there even if you think no one else is doing it. Embrace the woman that you are, take up space, don't dim your light to let someone else shine. Stay observant, stay humble, and be true to yourself. Don't be afraid.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Kindness, respect, caring, honesty, dependability, and trustworthiness are most important. Be dependable if you say you're going to do something, stand behind your word, be trustworthy so people can share with you and trust you to support them. Be a positive driving force in someone else's life.
