Her Story
About Celia
I am a showroom manager and design professional with over two decades of experience in the lighting and interior design industry, currently serving as Showroom Manager at Urban Lighting, a role I have held since July 2003, where I lead showroom operations, guide clients in selecting lighting solutions, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. I bring a strong eye for design and a deep understanding of how lighting transforms spaces, helping residential and commercial clients find the perfect fixtures to enhance their environments.
I hold a degree in Fashion Merchandising from FIDM and studied Interior Design at San Diego Mesa College, combining my passion for design, aesthetics, and client service to support my work in the lighting industry.
Across my career in showroom management and design, my work has been driven by a commitment to helping clients bring their visions to life through thoughtful product selection, creative guidance, and exceptional service. Whether I am assisting a homeowner, a designer, or a contractor, I bring a collaborative approach, strong product knowledge, and a dedication to creating spaces that are both functional and beautiful. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue serving clients and the design community through my work at Urban Lighting.

Ten minutes with Celia
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Staying focused on building relationships, not just transactions and sales. Relationships are the most important when working with architects and designers because they trust and keep coming back. As long as you can stay creative, opportunities will just keep coming.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait until you feel completely ready. Sometimes opportunities come and you'll warm up to them and grow. As long as you're happy doing what you're doing, just step into it anyway.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Retail customers going online to purchase through e-tailers instead of through a showroom like ours, a small brick and mortar.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Customer service. Making sure that we are available when one of our clients needs us. Having a showroom to show all of our lighting collections so customers can see the quality and craftsmanship. Being available to the customer with a landline and responding to emails right away.
