Her Story

About Chandra

Chandra Evans is a pharmacist, healthcare operations leader, and AI strategist with more than two decades of experience spanning federally qualified health centers, retail pharmacy, and multi-site healthcare systems. She holds a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Fayetteville State University and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Campbell University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Evans began her career in community retail pharmacy management before advancing into operational leadership, eventually serving as Director of Pharmacy Services at Heart of Florida Health Center, where she oversaw 340B program integrity, regulatory compliance, and systemwide process improvements while building full-service pharmacy programs from the ground up.

Today, Evans works at the intersection of pharmacy, artificial intelligence, and education, helping healthcare organizations responsibly integrate AI into everyday operations to improve documentation accuracy, streamline workflows, and strengthen compliance. As an independent consultant and the founder of the Pharmacy AI Leadership (P.A.I.L.) Institute, she equips pharmacists and healthcare teams to lead AI adoption rather than simply react to it. Her work also extends into public service, where she designs training and education initiatives that expand AI literacy among seniors and underserved communities, supporting medication safety, adherence, and independence.

Evans is an active member of the Coalition for Health AI, the PHIT work group, and the International Association of Artificial Intelligence Consultants, and she serves as Financial Secretary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She has been selected for inclusion as one of the Influential Women for the 2026 edition, reflecting her impact across pharmacy operations and AI-driven healthcare innovation. Grounded in faith, perseverance, and a commitment to mentorship, Evans continues to champion the idea that artificial intelligence should not replace human expertise but strengthen and extend it, making quality care more accessible to those who need it most.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith, which has fueled my tenacity throughout my career. It's that faith, paired with the courage to keep going even when things got difficult, that has carried me through.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never lose your voice.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell them to stay open to opportunities outside their comfort zone. Pharmacists are needed and valuable in so many spaces beyond the traditional retail setting, and I encourage the next generation to explore those possibilities rather than limit themselves.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges I see are burnout and a community retail pharmacy model that is fundamentally broken, along with pharmacists still having to advocate for recognition as providers. At the same time, I see real opportunity in leadership roles in other areas. We have to do 2 things now: Speak up (louder) and keep standing until we're heard.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, perseverance, collaboration, mentoring, and lifelong learning are the values that guide me most, both professionally and personally.
