Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strength of my relationships and the trust I’ve built over time. I’m fortunate that I don’t need to rely heavily on advertising, as much of my work in marketing strategy and coaching comes through referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations. I focus on consistently delivering exceptional value by “surprising and delighting” clients, which means I scope projects realistically and thoughtfully so I have room to exceed expectations rather than simply meet them. By intentionally creating that flexibility, I’m able to perform at a higher level that stands out, leading clients to feel I have over-delivered and ultimately resulting in repeat business and ongoing referrals.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is “stop trying to boil the ocean”. It’s easy to take on too much and get overwhelmed and this is a great reminder to stay focused on what you want, and plan based on reasonable goals.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering my industry is to build and nurture a strong professional network. Surrounding yourself with supportive, knowledgeable, and diverse connections can open doors to new opportunities, provide valuable guidance, and help you grow both personally and professionally.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is keeping up with the rapid evolution of growth marketing, particularly as social media and AI continue to reshape the landscape. Strategies that were once highly effective can quickly become outdated, and it can feel like just as you establish expertise, new tools and trends emerge—such as the shift from traditional SEO to optimizing for AI-driven discovery and indexing. For consultants and strategists, staying current with these technological advancements is essential to ensuring that marketing tactics remain effective. Additionally, as a consultant and business owner, navigating challenges like self-publishing and gaining visibility for thought leadership adds another layer of complexity, especially given how demanding and competitive it is to build exposure independently.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity and strong, lasting relationships. I’ve learned that being genuine is essential, especially in industries where people can quickly see through anything that isn’t real. I also place great importance on trust, connection, and investing in long-term relationships, as I believe success in both life and business is built through meaningful and supportive relationships with others.
