In a world where imitation often overshadows identity, Chanel B. stands firmly in her truth — unfiltered, soul-led, and unapologetically original. An international actress, dynamic entertainer, and powerhouse vocalist, Chanel has been using her voice since the age of three. But her purpose was shaped through experience, resilience, and faith — a journey that continues to unfold in bold and beautiful ways.

Originally from Upstate New York and now based in Atlanta, she brings a magnetic blend of northern grit and southern warmth to every stage and screen she steps on. Her career spans performances at State Farm Arena, Atlanta Symphony Hall, Augusta’s historic James Brown Arena, and the Sweet Auburn Festival. She’s been invited to sing for civic leaders and mayors across the Southeast, has shared stages and supported national recording artists, and appeared in films like Song of Love and Donors.

As the founder of BTRU2U Entertainment, Chanel has built more than an independent label — she’s created a home for artistic integrity and truth-telling. BTRU2U (Be True to You) isn’t just a name — it’s her mission in motion. Her sound blends R&B, country soul, gospel, pop, and cinematic storytelling — but she refuses to be confined by genre. “Whatever God sees fit to align and allow me to do, I will do my best to do it,” she says.

Her forthcoming self-titled EP is a fearless reflection of that mission — capturing the layers of heartbreak, healing, strength, and spirit that define her voice and vision.

BTRU2U lived in her spirit for years — an idea whispered in her dreams and spoken on the tip of her tongue. In 2020, she brought it to life. Not just for herself, but for those coming behind her who dare to show up in full truth.

Chanel B. has been doing the work — the foundation laid, the voice sharpened, and the vision clear. Now that the world is finally catching up, she’s nowhere near done. The best is still unfolding — and this is just her next chapter.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

My success is rooted in faith, obedience, and authenticity. I’ve learned that being true to who I am — flaws, fire, and all — is my superpower. I didn’t take shortcuts or follow trends; I trusted the process, even when it was slow, silent, or painful. I give credit to God first, but also to every experience that broke me open just enough to grow stronger. I’ve reached places I once only dreamt of, and those moments have solidified something in me — that I’m walking in purpose. I’m meant to be exactly where I am, on the path to where I’m headed. My village, my voice, and my vision have all played a role. But more than anything, I kept showing up — even when no one was clapping — and I believed there was purpose in my becoming.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

“Don’t quit — no matter where you are.” It might sound cliché, but it’s so true. If you quit, you end up starting over — instead of continuing from where you left off. And how will you ever know what’s possible if you don’t keep going? Even if you have to take pauses, detours, or slow down for a season, the key is to continue. Every step forward, no matter how small, keeps the dream alive and your purpose in motion.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

This industry — like many others — is still male-dominated, but don’t let that scare you. Let it challenge you to take up space loudly. Don’t dim your light just to fit in someone else’s shadow. They’ll try to mold you — to sound like her, move like that, or tone it down to make others comfortable. Don’t. Be you — unapologetically. Know your business. Protect your art. Stand on what you bring to the table. And if no one offers you a seat, build your own and make it unforgettable. You don’t have to match the energy — you were born to shift the room.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

-One of the greatest opportunities right now is the power of owning your narrative. Independent artists have more access than ever to distribute music globally, license work for film and television, and build real communities directly with their audience. You no longer have to wait for a major label or gatekeeper to validate your gift. For artists like me, who are multi-dimensional — singing, acting, performing, creating — there’s room to break boxes and show up fully. There’s a hunger for voices that are rooted in truth, soul, and real connection. And when you pair that with a clear vision and ownership, you’re not just creating — you’re building legacy. -Funding, of course, is a challenge from an artist standpoint in my field. Many artists are still navigating limited support for affordable housing, healthcare, and living wages without financial infrastructure. It’s harder to stay rooted. -Authenticity as currency: Your unconditional truth and genre-fluid voice align perfectly with listeners seeking realness. -Owning a label today means navigating a landscape of concentrated infrastructure and streaming complexities—but it also offers unprecedented global reach, creative control, and the chance to lead with community, purpose, and ethics. For BTRU2U Entertainment, the challenge is real—but the opportunity to redefine how independent artistry thrives on a global scale is even bigger.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Authenticity, faith, and integrity lead everything I do — whether I’m on stage, in the studio, in business, or just being present with the people I love. I believe in showing up as my whole self, not a version curated for approval. I value honesty, loyalty, and doing right by people — even when no one’s watching. In this industry, it’s easy to lose yourself trying to keep up, but I’ve learned that peace is the real success. If it costs me my character or my calling, it’s not worth it. I want everything I create and commit to — professionally and personally — to be rooted in purpose and truth.
