Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chantae

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to family. My family really believing in me from day one. There was a very strong focus in our family on education. My mom would always be the one if I had a tough day I'd call her cry to her pray with me and helped me through those times. Now having my own family I have the support from my husband and his family.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The buck stops with you. My residency program director said that when I was an intern. It has always resonated with me that no matter what happens I have to trust my clinical decision-making stand on it be able to defend it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Do it. I think mentorship I truly believe in mentorship. Having good mentors and networking with others in the field. Obviously this whole thing takes hard work on your own but it's also who you know and who can really go to bat for you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is misinformation online. People come in with misinformation so we spend a lot of time trying to correct myths. The biggest opportunity is to get ahead of that misinformation and put out information in a bite-sized way that people can understand.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Trust honesty transparency and openness. When anyone comes into my office they have to trust me. I ethically need to tell them the truth.
