Her Story
About Chantal
Chantal Alford serves as an Accommodation Specialist in higher education. She has worked in education for seven to eight years, with about a year and a half in higher education. Previously, she was a speech therapist for five years and a case manager for teenage students with disabilities, helping them build job readiness skills and prepare plans for post-secondary education. This background led her to her current role, where she meets with students to create accommodation plans, conducts faculty and staff consultations, and participates in outreach at local and campus events to promote resources. Her main area of expertise is ADA compliance. One notable professional achievement is implementing a data tracking system in her office. Alford was inspired to enter the field by a desire to help marginalized people, drawing from her love of talking and the power of speech. She attributes her success to her family and how she was raised, especially her mother. The best career advice she has received is to be open and be flexible. In her personal time, she hosts trivia and volunteers with a nonprofit in her hometown, serving on the scholarship committee.
