About Chantal

Chantal Camacho serves as an Employer of Record in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a role she has held for nearly four years. In this position, she oversees employee schedules, specific daily tasks, hours, and pay rates, while a separate payroll service manages checks. Chantal graduated high school and holds certifications in CPR and infant CPR. Prior to her disability, she worked in the childcare industry and as a CNA in a nursing home. She sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in 2003, which required her to relearn basic functions such as walking, talking, eating, and dressing. Today, she relies on employees for certain physical tasks she cannot perform independently. Chantal finds it rewarding to educate others, especially her employees, about brain injuries and how to support those affected. She participates in TBI Awareness Month and TBI Survivors Month and is a member of the Hope Survives group, where she connects with other survivors and shares resources. Professionally, she prioritizes keeping her employees updated on Health First Colorado regulations. Chantal attributes much of her success to her partnership with her dedicated employees.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chantal

01What do you attribute your success to?

I owe a lot of my success to my partnership with my employees. They're more than I could have hoped for. Without them that wouldn't be me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just be patient, you know, don't try to learn everything all at one time, because you'll feel really overwhelmed. Just be patient with yourself and kind. And you'll get through it.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The challenges I face are sometimes our schedules can be a little conflicting. Opportunities for employees to get their CNA license or other healthcare certifications.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Professionally, keeping my employees up to date with the Health First Colorado regulations. Personally, family is probably one of the most important things, especially my children.
