Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would definitely attribute my success to my regional manager, Lachey Anthony, who has been with me since I started at Hillpoint almost three years ago. She has been a really big part of my development and learning, and has been in my corner through everything, whether it's support, guidance, teaching, or even just helping move boxes. She's been a great asset and mentor to me, and I've learned so much from her about all the good, bad, and ugly parts of property management. Beyond that, I think being a military brat really shaped who I am. Growing up in a military family and moving around to different countries and places helped me learn how to relate to people from different cultures, personalities, and demographics. I've been blessed to meet so many different people in different climates, from Germany to down south to up north, and that has really helped me be able to connect with anyone. Also, my education at the Art Institute of Atlanta in interior design gave me a foundation that initially drew me to property management because I wanted to be part of the renovation team. And honestly, being a child of divorce taught me to be independent and strong. Going through that difficult time with my parents and siblings helped me learn how to deal with difficult situations, whether with residents or in my personal life.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say embrace change. Always embrace change, and don't take everything personal. You're in the people business, so people can be unpredictable. Sometimes they may let you down, sometimes they may give you inspiration, but definitely always be open to change. Don't just come here thinking of it as a job. Be optimistic, and don't take too many things personally.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field include navigating organizational growing pains during periods of rapid company expansion, as well as the barriers that young African American women may still face when entering and advancing in certain professional spaces. At the same time, there are strong opportunities in expanding into training and mentorship roles, building a personal professional brand, and leveraging networking and third-party recognition to create new pathways for growth and leadership.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my work and personal life are a people-first ethic, strong community engagement, and a commitment to making a positive impact wherever I serve. I also prioritize environmental stewardship, compassion for animals, and maintaining optimism and resilience in the face of challenges.
