About Charisse

Charisse Martin is a professional with experience spanning the biopharmaceutical and real estate sectors. She has worked in the biopharmaceutical field for over four years as a biotech production specialist at a pharmaceutical company, where her responsibilities include cell expansion in bioreactors and antibody extraction. Martin also works in residential and commercial real estate, currently focusing on first-time homebuyers while previously assisting investors with duplexes. Prior to her current roles, she spent five years as a patient care assistant and one year as a licensed emergency medical technician. She earned her bachelor's degree in human biology from SUNY Albany and later completed a master's degree in biology, concentrating in molecular, cellular, developmental, and neural biology, in 2025 while working full time. Martin volunteers as an industry mentor for science with the non-for-profit Mission Accomplished and was recently elected to its sponsor board.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Network as much as possible even if you feel like you don't belong in the room, especially in STEM. Work hard and believe in yourself. Keep paving the way even if it feels uncomfortable because that means you're growing. Don't let anybody discourage you from your dreams or goals because you determine your own limits.
