Ten minutes with Charity
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't ask for a seat at the table. Just bring your own table.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be intimidated, keep pushing. Set goals for yourself and don't give up. Don't look at who you're working next to or what the next person can do.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's a male-dominated industry. Struggles with respect level as a young Black female when older males with 40 years experience report to me. Building relationships helps overcome this.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Learning, training, and developing people. As a mother and chef, it's about giving others opportunities to continuously learn, grow, and develop.
