Her Interview

Ten minutes with Charlee

01What do you attribute your success to?

My first answer would be, of course, God. My second answer would definitely be my athletic background, so I played basketball for 13 years, and so that instilled a lot of, like, core principles that have helped me, and I've been able to carry those along the way.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was probably to try. Because if you don't try, then you don't know if you'll fail or not. And even if you do fail, the only way to go up is from the bottom.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say don't be afraid to be yourself. There's always a need for a woman on any type of panel, any type of board. It's more than a DEI quota.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest opportunities would probably be growing and developing the entire department. Fortunately, I'm with a company that is in the middle of its growing stages. And with that comes a lot of new trials and tribulations, and that's kind of what also makes it fun. Obstacles would most likely be the growing pains that come with growth, so miscommunications, or someone kind of standing in their own way.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Definitely integrity. Second to integrity would probably be honesty. And having fun.
