About Charlene
Charlene Fournier serves as a senior embryologist and is transitioning to a lab supervisor role in a fertility clinic focused on reproductive medicine in West Palm Beach, Florida. With six years in the field, she assists patients facing fertility challenges by retrieving eggs and sperm, creating embryos, and selecting the highest quality blastocysts for transfer or genetic testing. Her path to embryology began after earning a bachelor's degree in cell biology in France, followed by relocating to the United States 14 years ago where she completed a second bachelor's in psychology, a master's in biological sciences, and a PhD in integrative biology at Florida Atlantic University in May 2026. Prior to her current role, she worked as a wildlife biologist studying primates in Africa during her master's studies. She is a licensed embryologist through the Florida Department of Health and recently obtained her Technical Supervisor credential from the American Board of Bioanalysts. Charlene advises aspiring professionals in her field to never give up, persist through ups and downs, and take things one day at a time.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never give up. Always keep going. Don't believe what people say. You can do it. Whatever the path is, it's never a straight line. Sometimes there's ups and downs, but you need to keep going. On the days that are down, just stick it in. A good cry is fine, and then you keep going the next day. It's okay to be down sometimes, and then just push back the next day. One day at a time.
