Her Story
About Charlotte
Charlotte Brown serves as the sole owner of Domain Construction, a construction company focused on commercial losses in the Houston area. She began her career in the industry by working alongside her late husband, Robert, the company's founder and a skilled carpenter and tile installer. Starting with supportive roles such as tile installation and post-job cleanup, Brown helped grow the business from the ground up, pursuing storm-chasing opportunities and eventually managing large-scale projects including the full rebuild of the Wilshire Apartment Complex and resorts in Florida. After Robert's passing in 2023, she assumed full ownership, downsized operations to focus on manageable commercial work, and relocated the company back to Conroe, Texas. Prior to construction, Brown worked as a flight attendant for Continental Airlines for six to seven years. She holds a GED and has no college degree. Brown credits her professional achievements to her character, consistency in following through on commitments, and dedication to supporting her team and community through initiatives such as Harley's Angels of Texas, which supported BACA, Wounded Warriors, and Texas Children's Hospital.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Charlotte
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from character. Doing what you say you're gonna do and doing it. Taking care of people in the right way, not always expecting something from them when you do good for others. Taking care of the people that take care of you, pouring into the people that pour into you. If you work hard and show that that's what you're willing to do, then the right people will notice.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice is just show up and give it your best. People feel appreciated when you honor them in the right way and give credit where credit's due.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Speak up. Don't let anyone devalue you. Be seen, show up, work hard. Don't start drama. Let your work speak for itself and your dedication.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Being a woman in construction and actually having the respect when someone looks at you. Misconceptions because of the way I look, not having a college degree, coming from a blue-collar field.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Try to be better than you were yesterday. Try not to make the same mistakes. I try to live in honesty.
