01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a life of surrender to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My personal qualities of perseverance and resilience have shaped every step of my journey. Coming from a background that includes serving time in prison, I had to return home determined to prove that I was far more than a label or a record. That experience pushed me to work harder, stay focused, and rebuild my life with intention and integrity.

My path forward was strengthened by the support systems that believed in my potential. My church family at CUCIOM uplifted me spiritually and emotionally, reminding me of my value and purpose. Their guidance played a major role in helping me regain stability and confidence. I also became a client of Operation New Hope, a second‑chance reentry program that gave me the tools, opportunities, and encouragement I needed to succeed in my return to the job force. My Job at Allied gave me a chance when no one else would. Allied taught me structure, discipline, and stability.

Most importantly, my children, Char-Trayvia, Char-relle & J'Yah, stood by me through every challenge. Their love and support made it possible for me to keep moving forward, even when the road felt difficult. My success is the result of who I’ve become and the people who helped me get there, a combination of resilience, hard work, second chances, and the belief of a community that never gave up on me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received was to not let my past define my future. I was told that every day is a chance to show who I am now, not who I used to be. Keep moving forward even when progress is slow; grow through the pangs, and consistency beats perfection. Always remember that God has a purpose and a plan for my life. In His time, it will come to pass.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Show up, your past does not define your future. No matter where you’ve come from or what challenges you’ve faced, keep showing up, stay consistent, and take the next step, even when it feels small.

I’ve been with Allied for 20 years, working alongside great people in a company that has helped me grow. Over the years, there have been many changes. Some were intimidating, and there were moments when I doubted whether I could keep up. But I kept showing up. I chose to learn, to try, and to take advantage of the opportunities that came my way.

Because of that, I’ve been able to grow into roles and responsibilities I never imagined, from being hired as an assembler, barely knowing how to use a drill, to now working as a customer service representative, and working closely with the VP and President of the company! Showing up even on the hard days truly changes everything.

Manufacturing can seem like a hard job, don't be afraid, see it as an opportunity to learn and show what skills you bring to the table. Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Ask for training, opportunities or responsibilities. Like my grandma used to say, a closed mouth don't get fed. Believe in you, you belong in rooms where decisions are made, opportunities are offered, and leadership is needed. Never shrink yourself because of someone else's opinion or judgment.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In my role in customer service within the manufacturing industry, I face challenges that require patience, adaptability, and clear communication every day, qualities that have been strengthened by my own life journey. Customers expect fast, consistent support across many channels. Manufacturing continues to change, which means I must continually learn new systems while helping customers understand what to expect during disruptions. My perseverance and resilience, shaped by overcoming major obstacles in my past, allow me to stay steady under pressure, remain solution‑focused, and communicate with clarity even in challenging situations. These strengths help me not only meet the demands of the job but also build trust with customers, support my team, and contribute to a smoother experience in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important value in both my personal life and my work is my faith in Christ. My faith grounds me, guides my decisions, and reminds me that every day is a chance to walk in grace, growth, and purpose. It shapes how I treat people — with patience, respect, compassion, and understanding. It also helps me stay steady when I face challenges, knowing I’m not carrying anything alone.

Another value that defines me is resilience. Coming from a journey that required rebuilding my life, I’ve learned to stand up again, no matter how hard the fall. This resilience shows up in my work when I stay calm during stressful moments, handle frustrated customers with empathy, and push through obstacles with determination instead of discouragement.

I also value integrity. Being honest, dependable, and consistent matters to me. No matter what job I’m doing, big or small, I want people to know they can trust me. Integrity means showing up on time, following through, and treating everyone with dignity.
