Charmion Anderson

Charmion Anderson is a social worker based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with more than 25 years of experience in the human services field. She began her career in 1999 as a mentor for a nonprofit organization in Portsmouth and later worked in government roles in the Washington D.C. and Maryland area, including with PG County starting around 2001. After transitioning during the COVID period in 2020, Anderson joined Virginia Beach Public Schools and expanded her work with nonprofits focused on at-risk youth, delivering workshops on employment skills, resume development, and career goal setting. She has also served as an employment specialist with Goodwill, assisting individuals with disabilities in learning job skills and preparing resumes. In addition, she works part-time with Extra Special Parents LLC, a nonprofit that manages foster parents, where she conducts home studies and licenses homes. Anderson earned a Bachelor's in Social Work from Norfolk State University, a Master's in Business Administration from St. Leo University, and a certification in nonprofit leadership from Capella University. She is currently a board member of 4D Women, a scholarship organization supporting young moms returning to school, and previously served on the board of Link Up Hampton Roads, which works with homeless organizations. She attributes her success to the motivation and work ethic modeled by her mother and the encouragement from her teacher, Ms. Yarbrough, to persevere and grow.
