Her Story

About Charon

I am a senior living operations leader, multisite leader, and Board Director who is passionate about people, purpose, and creating meaningful impact. My career began in direct care, and that experience continues to shape how I lead today. It gave me a deep appreciation for the resident experience, the importance of empowered teams, and the responsibility leaders have to create environments where people feel valued, supported, and equipped to succeed.

Throughout my journey, I have remained committed to growth, resilience, and service driven leadership. I believe effective operations begin with aligned people, and that sustainable results are created when leaders connect people, processes, and performance with clarity and purpose.

What drives me most is the opportunity to help people, teams, and organizations grow with purpose. Whether I am leading community operations, supporting operational improvement, mentoring department directors, or helping create operational consistency across multiple communities, my goal is to leave a meaningful impact by strengthening systems, building relationships, and helping others grow.

Ten minutes with Charon

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is rooted in resilience, purpose, strong values, and a deep commitment to people. As an operational leader, I understand that strong performance is created through strong teams, clear systems, accountability, and a culture where people feel supported to do their best work.

Throughout my leadership journey, I have learned to lead with a full view of operations. Every metric tells a story about people, processes, resident experiences, team engagement, and daily execution. By understanding the individuals behind the data, investing in their potential, and aligning teams around a shared purpose, I have been able to build stronger teams, improve collaboration, and drive meaningful, sustainable results across the organizations I have led.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to stay grounded in who I am while remaining open to growth. Leadership requires confidence, authenticity, humility, and the ability to adapt as people, organizations, and industries evolve.

That advice has shaped the way I lead. It has reminded me to trust my voice, remain values-driven, and continue learning through every stage of my career. In senior living, change is constant, and the leaders who make the greatest impact are those who can stay true to their purpose while growing with the needs of their teams, residents, and organizations.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay curious, ask thoughtful questions, and remain confident in the path they choose for themselves. Senior living is meaningful work, but it also requires resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning.

If this is the work you are truly called to do, stay committed and do not allow others to discourage or redirect your vision. Seek out leaders who are where you aspire to be, learn from their experience, and remain open to coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback.

The right guidance can accelerate your growth, but your voice, values, and purpose must remain your own. When you lead with integrity, continue developing your skills, and stay connected to the people you serve, your impact will grow with you.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The senior living industry is facing significant challenges and meaningful opportunities. Workforce sustainability, regulatory complexity, rising operating costs, and burnout among care teams continue to place pressure on providers. At the same time, these challenges create an opportunity for leaders to rethink how we support teams, strengthen systems, and create environments where both residents and employees can thrive.

I believe one of the greatest opportunities in senior living is the ability to lead with a stronger connection between operations, people, and community impact. This includes developing engaged teams, improving retention, building strategic partnerships, and creating collaborative relationships that support better outcomes for residents, families, and the broader community.

Addressing today’s challenges requires intentional, people-centered leadership rooted in accountability, consistency, and clear communication. When leaders prioritize employee engagement, structured support, operational discipline, and meaningful collaboration, they strengthen morale, improve retention, and position their organizations for long-term success.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, authenticity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to investing in people. I believe in being honest, consistent, and intentional in everything I do, while leading with empathy, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Building meaningful relationships is central to how I lead and how I live. Strong relationships create trust, strengthen collaboration, and support long-term success. I place high value on treating people with dignity, understanding their needs, and contributing positively to their growth, confidence, and success.
