About Chaya
Chaya Miriam Weisman is a Certified Endometriosis Advocate dedicated to advancing awareness, education, and support for individuals living with endometriosis, with a particular focus on the unique challenges faced by postmenopausal women. Drawing from her own lifelong experience with the disease, she has transformed personal adversity into a mission of advocacy, working to improve understanding of a condition that is often misunderstood and underdiagnosed. Her commitment is rooted in ensuring that those living with endometriosis have access to accurate information, compassionate support, and appropriate medical care.
Before pursuing her advocacy work, Weisman served as a Medical Transcriptionist and Medical Secretary at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she gained valuable experience in the healthcare field. Although endometriosis altered her original goal of becoming an orthopedic oncologist, she continued her education with determination, earning a 3.8 GPA while completing biology studies alongside a theater major and psychology minor. Her academic background and healthcare experience have strengthened her ability to educate, advocate, and engage with both patients and medical professionals.
Today, Weisman is actively involved with the American End of Endo Project and is preparing to launch the What About Us virtual support group for postmenopausal women living with endometriosis. She is a passionate advocate for improving access to specialized care, modernizing medical coding for excision procedures, and expanding recognition of the long-term impact of endometriosis across all stages of life. Guided by resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to helping others, Weisman continues to champion meaningful change for the endometriosis community.
