Her Interview
Ten minutes with Chelsea
01What do you attribute your success to?
I've always been somebody who believed in the concept of dreams and the importance of dreams. I have big dreams and that's why people sometimes think I'm hard on myself. Dreams do change, so what I wanted at a certain stage might not be what I want now. Making sure that not only you have dreams but you are working towards them is really important because dreams motivate people.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most important thing I learned is to be a little bit more open-minded. Learn to be more flexible with your career and where you expected to end up versus where you are destined to end up.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Try to do internships especially in undergrad because that helps tremendously. Choose a school or degree program where you have to do internships. Try to choose something that is a little bit more universal like business administration rather than something so specific to avoid pigeonholing yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is the AI component, making sure we use it ethically and still maintain the human touch in HR. Opportunities include creating specialized roles in AI management and leadership positions as entry-level jobs may decrease.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In professional life, finding a company that pays well, values employees, aligns with philanthropy values, and offers growth opportunities. In personal life, being in an environment that is environmentally conscious, diverse, and aligns with personal views.
