Her Interview
Ten minutes with Chelsea
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the diverse experiences that have shaped my career journey. I began in tech support, which helped me develop strong problem-solving and communication skills, and eventually transitioned into writing-focused marketing work where I help clients define and strengthen their brand voice. My background in social work and public administration has also provided me with a deeper understanding of people, organizations, and the importance of meaningful communication.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to “fail fast.” It’s a mindset often used in the tech industry, where the best way to determine whether something will work is to test it, learn from the outcome, and adjust quickly. I’ve learned that failure is not something to fear—it’s an opportunity to gain insights, make improvements, and get back on the right path faster.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is simple: keep going. Stay committed to your goals, continue learning, and don’t allow challenges or setbacks to discourage you. Persistence, confidence, and resilience are essential qualities for building a successful and fulfilling career.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field right now is helping businesses stand out in an increasingly competitive market. With social media continuing to grow and evolve, there is a significant need for smaller companies to identify their unique differentiators and build a strong online presence. I see an opportunity to help these businesses clarify their brand voice, connect with their audiences, and effectively navigate the digital landscape.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity is one of the most important values I carry in both my work and personal life. I believe in building trust through genuine connections and making sure that when someone takes a significant leap of faith to start their own business, they know I truly have their best interests at heart. I strive to provide honest guidance, meaningful support, and a partnership built on trust.
