About Chelsea

Chelsea Holmes is an accomplished lighting specialist and interior design professional whose career has been driven by a lifelong passion for creating spaces that enhance the way people live, work, and heal. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Harding University and a Master of Arts in Interior Design from SCAD, she discovered her niche in the electrical and lighting industry, where she has spent more than 13 years combining technical expertise with creative problem-solving. As part of Inline Electric and Inline Lighting in Huntsville, Alabama, she collaborates with interior designers, architects, engineers, and sales teams to develop lighting specifications, source innovative products, manage LED inventory, and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of clients across the Southeast. In addition to her technical expertise, Chelsea is a passionate advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and individuals living with chronic illnesses and disabilities. As a USGBC LEED Green Associate and Interior Designer, she understands the powerful role lighting plays in wellness, productivity, healing, and environmental responsibility. Her commitment to the design profession extends beyond her day-to-day work through leadership with ASID Alabama, where she served on the board for six years in roles including Membership Director, Vice President, and President, becoming one of the organization's youngest presidents. She is also an active member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and supports AGAPE of North Alabama, a nonprofit dedicated to foster care and adoption services. Chelsea credits her success to the support of her team, the mentors who encouraged her to pursue work she truly loves, and the belief that accountability and continuous learning are essential to professional growth. She encourages young women entering the traditionally male-dominated electrical and lighting industry to work hard, believe in themselves, and recognize that perseverance earns both opportunities and respect. Guided by the values of integrity, loyalty, and family, Chelsea remains committed to advancing innovative lighting solutions while navigating the rapidly evolving technologies and supply chain challenges shaping the future of the industry.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Chelsea

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the incredible team that has supported, mentored, and challenged me throughout my career. Their guidance and encouragement have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

My parents taught me early on to pursue a job I'm passionate about rather than looking for a position. You have to earn the position and you’ll appreciate it that much more. One of the best lessons I've learned from my boss is that it's okay to make mistakes—as long as you take ownership of them and learn from the experience.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

If you're entering a male-dominated industry, believe in yourself and know that you are just as capable as anyone else. You may have to work a little harder to earn your seat at the table, but your dedication, work ethic, and perseverance will earn respect and create opportunities. Stay confident, work hard, and never underestimate what you can achieve.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the lighting industry is keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology and product innovations. In addition, supply chain disruptions, rising import costs, and backorders continue to impact project timelines and product availability. At the same time, these changes create opportunities for professionals who stay informed, adapt quickly, and help clients navigate an increasingly dynamic marketplace.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are respect, integrity, family, and loyalty. I believe your word is your bond, and earning the trust of others is one of the most important aspects of both personal and professional relationships. I also value the sense of family that comes from working alongside a supportive team, where loyalty, collaboration, and mutual respect create a strong foundation for success.
