About Chelsea

Chelsea Kovacs is a Human Resources Manager at REPAIRIFY, INC. in Jacksonville, Florida, with approximately eight years of experience in human resources. She has progressed through multiple HR roles within the organization, advancing from Human Resources Coordinator to Human Resources Specialist, Human Resources Generalist, Human Resources Business Partner, and ultimately Human Resources Manager. Her current areas of focus include employee relations, leave management, HRIS and systems management, onboarding and offboarding, learning and development, and employee engagement. Before transitioning into human resources, Chelsea spent approximately seven years working in child welfare and nonprofit social services. Her experience included serving as a Post Reunification Coach and Family Service Counselor, supporting individuals and families dealing with dependency, substance abuse, domestic violence, and related challenges. This background provided her with extensive experience working directly with people and navigating complex situations, which she later brought into her human resources career. Her education includes a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Florida. Chelsea holds the Associate Professional in Human Resources® (aPHR®) certification through HRCI and a Human Resources credential from UKG, with Credential ID 162155451. She is also pursuing the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and maintains professional affiliations with SHRM, HRCI, and the Jacksonville SHRM chapter. Her professional development reflects a continued commitment to expanding her HR knowledge and expertise. When advising the next generation, particularly young women entering the workforce, she emphasizes listening to their own concerns and passions, building a strong educational foundation, gaining practical experience through internships, mentorship’s and pursuing professional certifications that can strengthen both knowledge and professional networks.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

When women have asked me for career advice, I have found it important to first listen to their concerns, interests, and passions rather than immediately telling them what I think they should do. I encourage them to reflect on their own goals and find the answers that are right for them. I also recommend building a strong educational foundation, seeking internships, mentorship’s, practical experience, and pursuing professional certifications if this avenue fits their ambitions. These opportunities can help expand both professional knowledge and career networks.
